Elegia capensis 'Horsetail Restio'

Description: This restio is a tall, dark green, elegant plant with large decorative papery sheaths and whorls of needle-like foliage along the tall stems. The decorative apricot coloured sheaths become stiff and parchment-like, maturing to copper and creating a crackling sound in the wind.

Planting/Use: Excellent container plant, especially attractive by water.

General Care: Moist well-drained soil.

Exposure: Full sun.

Height/Spread: 2.5m x 5m (7ft x 15ft) in frost free areas.
